He's turned teddy bears, graffiti and Looney Tunes characters into must-haves for AW15. In our exclusive interview, we get up close and personal with Jeremy Scott - and the collection - to find out all about his inspirations...
Ever since Jeremy Scott's first collection as Moschino's new creative director hit the catwalks back in 2014, we could see his pairing with the famously subversive house was a match made in fashion heaven.
Turning pop culture into high fashion and poking fun at consumerism, only Scott could make the notion of fast fashion literally eat itself, with a collection that included pieces for sale straight from the runway and turned the golden arches of McDonald's into a must-have new monogram. Not to mention turning the French Fries bag into a street-style status symbol.
For his next trick, he turned Barbie into a catwalk star with a highly flammable, highly pink and totally fabulous collection that took our favourite blondie from beach to bar to prom - all embellished with giant gold Moschino hardware, of course.
So when we all took our seats for Scott’s latest show during Milan Fashion Week, expectations were high - and he didn't disappoint. Oh, no. With a giant boombox towering over the catwalk and Kriss Kross on the soundtrack, we all got to turn the clock back and indulge in a total 90s-fest.
Blinged-up denim, puffa jackets in pop colours, graffiti embellishments and a whole lot of Looney Tunes cartoon characters (in their rap incarnations, obviously), as well as a whole new take on Franco Moschino’s original teddy bear coat, the inspiration behind Jeremy’s Toy perfume and a whole segment of the show. Frankly, we were surprised not to see Katy Perry helicopter in and literally storm the catwalk to have it all off Gigi Hadid’s back.
So we were especially delighted to chat to the man himself at Moschino HQ in Milan. Watch our exclusive interview above for an up-close, personal look at the collection and an insight into his inspirations.
