VIDEO: All About Eye Creams
From when to why, here's your definitive guide.
From when to why, here's your definitive guide.
Quite frankly, team MC get a bit miffed when eye creams are touted to be a cure-all magic ticket to being wrinkle-free and eternally youthful. Don’t get us wrong - we really wish this were the case and have tested many in the hope they’d change our minds, but you hardly need to be a beauty editor to know there’s no lotion on the planet that’ll magically rewind time. Find the right one with the right actives for your concerns though, and it really can make an enormous difference to the trajectory of your ageing process, while offering instant gratification in the form of revived and plumped skin.
Watch the above video that we teamed up with Caudalie to make for everything you need to know about eye creams - in it our Beauty Director Lisa Oxenham debunks myths, pinpoints some of the ingredients that target common issues like puffiness, dryness and wrinkles, and shows you how best to apply it. Lisa also reveals the eye cream that meets her exacting criteria.
For more options, here are some other eye potions that are doing it for us at the moment…
1. REN Instant Brightening Beauty Shot Eye Lift, £30 After instant results? This is the one for you - the hyaluronic acid will plump out wrinkles and light-reflective pigments brighten. Over time, it’ll help to reduce puffiness and strengthen the area around the eyes.
2. Avene PhysioLift Eyes, £22 This cream by French pharmacy brand Avene is designed to gently fortify the skin surrounding eyes with actives such as retinaldehyde (a less sensitising cousin of retinoic acid), and collagen boosters.
3. SkinCeuticals AOX+ Eye Gel, £70 A firm favourite around these quarters, this eye gel is lightweight and ideal if you’re spending time in the sun - the three types of antioxidants will help prevent damage while also reducing puffiness.
