Tarte Cosmetics Called Out Over Lack Of Diversity
A Twitter user has highlighted the lack of diversity in Tarte Costmetics product offerings and the post has since gone viral.
On Friday, January 12 @urbandoll posted an image of PopSugar's Tarte Shape Tape Foundation swatches shown on an arm of someone with darker skin captioning it: "Is @tartecosmetics serious?". From the photo, it's evident that the majority of the shades are for lighter complexions, and the few deeper tones that can be seen have very little variation.
Her tweet has since been retweeted over 3000 times with many users replying to agree with her. One user said: "Can we talk about how there isn't even a foundation match for the arm?" Whilst, others took to the platform to share their disappointment with the hashtag #DoBetter
Plenty of Twitter users were also keen to point out how Tarte Cosmetics compares to Rihanna's Fenty Beauty, whose brand's foundation comes in forty different shades. Nars and Make Up Forever have also been praised by users for their varying shades.
