The world's biggest diamond is discovered in South Africa

The world's biggest diamond has been discovered by miners in South Africa.

The current record holder, the Golden Jubilee weighs 545.67 carats but the new discovery could be up to twice the size reports are claiming.

Speaking to the Telegraph Fred Cuellar who founded Diamond Cutter International commented, 'It caught everyone in the diamond industry offside. There will be a lot of mad bidding from a lot of private individuals as to who is going to buy this stone.' The stone could reach up to £15 million if it does go to auction.

The diamond is now being held in a Johannesburg bank vault, until the mining house who made the discovery decide what its fate will be.
