Women are spending around £210 on preparation for their office Christmas parties, including a new dress, shoes, make-up and fake tan.
Two in three women also admitted that they buy up to three dresses in the lead up to the party, in a bid to impress their colleagues and begin an office romance.
According to the research, by Asda, 67 per cent of women have a sleepless night the day before the event, over fears they may not look their best.
Shapewear was also of importance, with 52 per cent saying they spend at least £30 on padded bras and 35 per cent buying control pants.
Half of the women surveyed said they spent at least £20 on false eyelashes, fake tan and hairspray, and a third had manicures or blow dries before the party.
Fiona Lambert, George at ASDA Brand Director, who was involved in the research, said: 'There’s nothing worse than panicking about what to wear to the annual office Christmas party.
