Surge in sales for Pendleton's Halfords bike range
After thrashing the cycling medal table, Britain seems to have gone bike barmy, and one lady who’s still reaping the rewards of her winnings is the lovely Victoria Pendleton, who since the Olympics has seen a surge in her bike sales.
The demand for her excusive range, available at Halfords, has risen month by month since the range launched in April of this year, with the biggest increase seen in the last four weeks.
Designed by the double-medal winner herself, she wants to encourage women to take up cycling for either sport or leisure, with three golden designs to suit any rider.
She explains how she 'wanted to help create a bike that you could just jump on to go down to the shops or the park. I know that most women don't want to squeeze into lycra before they get on a bike.'
The three designs vary in size, style and colour, but picking your perfect cycle couldn’t be simpler with Pendleton’s straightforward bike buying guide. Choose between the classic Somerby with leather style stitched saddle, perfect for popping to the shops, the lightweight hybrid bike Brooke, suitable for multiple surfaces, or the sporty Dalby, best for leisure and fitness, making it ideal for commuters.
They may look cute and come in handy for nipping from A to B, but according to Livestrong, you can burn up to 620 calories per hour. Not only is cycling a great lower body workout, toning your bum and building up thigh, calf and hip muscles, but it also raises your metabolic rate, which makes it easier to shed weight.
