With 10 million active users and 80 per cent logged into the social network on their phones, Britain has become Twitter-obsessed.
The country has the fourth largest number of Twitter users in the world, behind the US, Brazil and Japan.
Stephen Fry, Jessie J and Emma Watson are all in the Top Ten UK celebrities followed internationally.
Twitter has become an phenomenon with 140 million Twitter users worldwide churning out 340 million Tweets each day, but it is still remains in the shadow of Facebook which boasts 900 million users.
140 brands have also used the social networking site to advertise and Twitter intends to compete with its high profile rivals by adding new features.
