Who Are The Best And Worst Dressed Celebrity Men Of 2016?
The Duke of Edinburgh has beaten Robert Pattinson and Idris Elba. No, seriously.
The Duke of Edinburgh has beaten Robert Pattinson and Idris Elba. No, seriously.
The best dressed men of Britain have been revealed - and there's quite a few curveballs.
The title of Best Dressed man was bestowed upon... (drumroll please) actor Eddie Redmayne. He was followed by X Factor judge and DJ Nick Grimshaw, in second place, and singer Sam Smith who came third in the poll, compiled by GQ magazine. The 2016 list was dominated by actors, singers and er, the Royal family (although ladies-man Prince Harry was been beaten in the poll by a much older relative…)
Other men to chart include footballer David Beckham who was voted fourth - beating his son Romeo who is this year’s number eight. Ex 1D member Harry Styles came in at number six, actor Benedict Cumberbatch nabbed the ninth spot and model David Gandy was deemed the 10th most stylish man about town. Other guys to make the sartorial cut include rapper Skepta and fashion designer Patrick Gant.

And for the second year in a row, the Duke of Edinburgh has beaten his grandson Prince Harry - yep. The 94-year-old Royal was voted into 12th position on GQ’s poll of 50 best-dressed men, jumping a formidable 14 places in one year. In comparison, Prince Harry was ranked 38th in 2016 and didn’t even make the top 30 last year.
To put all that into perspective, The Queen’s husband finished above Jamie Dornan, Idris Elba and Robert Pattinson. Go on, Prince Philip.
Many of this year’s men have featured on the magazine's annual list before (albeit in lower ranking positions). Eddie Redmayne (hotly tipped to win an Oscar for his performance in The Danish Girl) placed 26th in 2015, beating fashion-list-regular Nick Grimshaw who was last year’s winner. Brand-Beckham’s fashion credentials have also further improved with David jumping nine places since 2015 and Brooklyn’s placing for the first time after landing a modelling campaign with Burberry last year. Designer Patrick Grant has also seen his style-star ascend dramatically - he placed at no.45 last year and no.38 in 2013 – he’s now fifth.
However, there were a few men who didn't fare too well on the fashion front. The Great British Bake Off's Paul Hollywood was awarded pole position on the top 10 worst-dressed men's list and telly-academic Owen Jones, The Only Way is Essex's Jake Hall, and Top Gear host Chris Evans also featured. Oops.
All the results are published in February’s edition of GQ magazine.
