Texas Judge Tells 20-Year-Old: Marry Your Girlfriend Or Go To Jail

A US judge has ordered a man to marry his girlfriend or go to jail.
Texas judge Randall Rogers also ordered defendant Josten Bundy to write down Bible verses and attend counselling after the 20-year-old punched his girlfriend Elizabeth’s ex-boyfriend.
“[The ex-boyfriend] had been saying disrespectful things about Elizabeth, so I challenged him to a fight,” Mr. Bundy said. “He stepped in, and I felt like it was on, and I hit him in the jaw twice.”
Despite not needing medical attention, the injured ex decided to press assault charges against Bundy.
Judge Rogers, who declined to comment on the case, reportedly asked Bundy “Is she worth it?” before handing out the unusual and frankly bizarre ruling.
We have to give props to Bundy for his response: “I said, well to be honest, sir, I was raised with four sisters, and if any man was talking to a woman like that, I’d probably do the same thing.”

Alas that clearly wasn’t the answer the judge was looking for. He gave Bundy two options for probation: marry his girlfriend within 30 days or spend 15 days in jail.
Bundy, worried about losing his job, asked if he could alert his employer that he would be missing work. His request was denied, as the judge reportedly informed him “that’s not how this works”.
The pair booked an appointment with the justice of the peace to get married but Elizabeth,19, admits she was “embarrassed” by the proposal.
It does make you wonder how certain people get themselves into positions of power, doesn’t it?
