Our fave 90s anthem turns 20 this week #girlpower
This Friday is the 20th birthday of classic 90s anthem, Wannabe by The Spice Girls (is anyone else feeling old right now?). To mark the occasion, the music video has been reworked to highlight a number of issues that are still blighting the lives of women around the word.
Featuring artists from South Africa, India, Nigeria, The UK, Canada and The USA, the famous video has been given a whole new rendition in order to push the UN's Global Goals campaign - and it's seriously empowering
The Global Goals is a list of 17 developments the UN are campaigning to see worldwide, including quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation as well as eradicating world hunger.
Victoria Beckham, has been among a number of famous faces to get behind the project, having shared the video to her Facebook page yesterday, writing: '20 years on - Girl power being used to empower a new generation. I'm so proud of The Global Goals #WhatIReallyReallyWant'.
The film's director, MJ Delaney, said of the video: 'This is about modern day girl power. The Spice Girls were about a group of different women joining together and being stronger through that bond. These differences are what we want to celebrate in this film, while showing there are some universal things that all girls, everywhere, really, really want' The Guardian reported.
We absolutely love this campaign and everything it stands for.
