Singer Kate Nash has launched a striking necklace and video to spread her message of empowering women and girls round the world.
The star, who is the Global Ambassador of the Because I am a Girl campaign and runs a programme for school-aged girls, Kate Nash’s Rock 'N’ Roll for Girls After School Music Club, has launched a statement necklace emblazoned with her 'girlgang' trademark. The aim of this is to unite her international fan base with her latest album Girl Talk's empowering mission statement.
Nash said: 'The album is about what it’s like to be a girl and when writing Girl Talk I fell back in love with Sex and the City.
‘Like Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda, I see my fans as my girlgang; they’re the reason that I’m still here as an artist and no matter what happens they always have my back.'
Speaking about her song and video which furthers the cause, she added: 'A girl gang gets you through everything. I heard a song by LA punk band FIDLAR and I genuinely thought they were singing Girl Gang in the original demo, which they weren't, so I've covered it as Girl Gang!'
But boys aren't excluded, as Nash explained: 'We’re a girl gang, but you don’t have to be a girl to be in the gang – boys are invited too.'
