No more Adnan, but there's a whole new mystery for listeners to get obsessed with
No more Adnan, but there's a whole new mystery for listeners to get obsessed with
In 2014, Sarah Koenig and her This American Life team released the most unexpected and entertaining podcast anyone had (probably) ever listened to: Serial. And now, one year later, the team is back for Season 2, with its first episode Dustwon released today - and there's a whole new mystery to solve… While Season 1 revolved around the unexpected questions and suspicious characters involved in the murder of Korean-American Hae Min Lee, and her convicted murderer Adnan Syed, Sarah and her team have decided to look at a completely different mystery for Season 2. And we’re sure it’ll become just as obsessive listening as the first season was. Episode 1 of the second series, much like the first episode of Season 1, introduces the cast of characters that Sarah and her team will visit throughout Season 2. Instead of a murder, Season 2 is set to look at the 2014 case of Bowe Berghdahl, a US soldier who was imprisoned by the Taliban and returned home, only to be greeted with disdain by his fellow army men when it was revealed he had deliberately left his post in Afghanistan to walk into enemy territory. The military setting marks a significant and marked departure from the high school atmosphere of the first season, but we’ve no doubt that Sarah Koenig’s soothing voice and her team’s balanced views on their new mystery will entice viewers to stick around for some must-listen podcasts in the weeks to come. We’ve already got our first episode ready and waiting. Tweet us @marieclaireuk with your thoughts on the new series.
