Mia Thermopolis is ready for a comeback
The early 2000s made for some amazing romantic comedies and The Princess Diaries might just be our favourite one. Ever since Anne Hathaway charmed us with the character of the awkward teenager-turned-princess Mia Thermopolis, we’ve wanted to know how the story ends.
Of course there was The Princess Diaries 2, the sequel that was released in 2004 and debuted Chris Pine as Lord Nicholas Devereaux, Mia’s love interest. But with the princess only being crowned Queen of Genovia and confessing her love in the last five minutes of the movie, fans of the franchise weren’t really satisfied with the end.
Well, it looks like we might get the ending that we all deserve because Anne Hathaway just revealed to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that The Princess Diaries 3 is in the works.
‘There is a script for the third movie,’ the actress said as she answered a fan’s question. ‘There is a script. I want to do it. Julie Andrews wants to do it. Debra Martin Chase, our producer, wants to do it.’
'We all really want it to happen,' she continued. 'It’s just we don’t want to do it unless it’s perfect because we love it just as much as you guys love it, it is as important to us as it is to you and we don’t want to deliver anything until it’s ready but we’re working on it.’
Did Mia and Nicholas get married? Are Clarisse (Julie Andrews) and Joseph still together? I guess we’ll have to wait and (and hopefully) see.
