The Duke of Edinburgh’s wellbeing has been a point of concern over the past year, wth the 97-year-old admitted to hospital in 2018 to have surgery, making a speedy recovery to appear at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s May wedding.
His wellbeing came up again this week as news emerged that Prince Philip had been involved in a car crash near the Queen’s Sandringham estate, something that was confirmed by Buckingham Palace.
Despite the collision leaving the royal’s Land Rover overturned, Philip is reported to have left the accident unharmed.
According to the BBC, the Duke of Edinburgh was driving himself, with witnesses reporting that the royal was ‘conscious but very, very shocked and shaken’.
Norfolk police confirmed that officers were called to the scene just before 3pm after a Land Rover and a Kia were involved in a collision.
Two women in the other car are reported to have needed hospital treatment, but have since been discharged.
