Natalie Portman, a New Year feel-good special and a look ahead at 2017's big fashion trends are just a few highlights from Marie Claire's February issue
Why should you pick up a copy of Marie Claire's February issue? Why shouldn't you should be the question here. Our new issue is jam-packed with fashion news, inspiring stories of kick-ass women, New Year wellbeing tips and beauty trends. A few highlights...
First lady, Natalie Portman
Her new role as First Lady Jackie Kennedy (Jackie) is about to catapult her into the Oscars race. Writer Mickey Rapkin caught up with February issue cover star Natalie Portman at a cafe close to the home she shares in L.A with her husband Benjamin Millepied and five-year-old son Aleph. 'In the wrong hands that is a very bad decision', she said of playing Kennedy. She also discussed the Hollywood pay gap. 'Ashton Kutcher was paid three times as much as me on No Strings Attached. I knew and I went along with it because there's this thing with "quotes" in Hollywood. Your quote is the highest you've ever been paid.' She added that she should have kicked up more of a fuss. 'I wasn't as pissed as I should have been! I mean, we get paid a lot, so it's hard to complain. But the disparity is crazy.'
Willpower (how to have more of it)
Ready to press reset? Forget the body, it's the mind taking first place in our February issue New Year wellbeing special. Writer Polly Dunbar explains why keeping New Year's resolutions is so difficult and lays out simple steps to get better at it, Anita Bhagwandas explains how to break the cycle of emotional eating (there are four types of emotional eater, apparently) and Corinne Redfern examines the psychological reasons behind our nostalgia obsession.
