Slang term popularised by critics of the erotic novel joins 'amazeballs' as one of the latest words to be added to the dictionary

It's been the literary sensation of the year, having a major effect on our sex lives and even transforming classic literature into erotic fiction. But now a slang term popularised by critics of the Fifty Shades trilogy has been entered into the English dictionary.

'Mummy porn', used as a term to describe the book's - and its legions of copycats' - genre, has joined 'amazeballs' and 'frenemy' as the latest additions to the Collins online dictionary.

The book was hugely popular with mature women and mothers who were able to discreetly read it on their Kindles.

The new additions were chosen after Collins asked the general public to suggest new words for inclusion.

Editors of the dictionary decided 'mummy porn' was so widely understood due to the success of Fifty Shades that it no longer should be viewed as a slang word.
