Michael Kors And Halle Berry Are Doing Something Amazing To End World Hunger (And You Can Too)
For the second year running, the powerhouse designer has teamed up with Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry on the Watch Hunger Stop campaign.
For the second year running, the powerhouse designer has teamed up with Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry on the Watch Hunger Stop campaign.
Launched to coincide with World Food Day on 16 October, Michael Kors and Halle Berry will once again join forces with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to raise awareness as well as funds that will go towards feeding 90 million people in 80 countries a year.
This year’s campaign follows the success of spring 2013’s launch of the 100 Series Michael Kors watch, specially designed to support WFP. For each 100 Series watch sold, 100 children in hunger-stricken areas received a nutritious meal. To date, the Watch Hunger Stop campaign has helped more than five million children get school meals, and this year things are stepping up a gear.
Michael Kors hopes that 2014’s Watch Hunger Stop campaign - which sees the launch of a beautiful new limited-edition, rose gold 100 Series Watch - will be their biggest yet. For every 100 Series watch sold, Michael Kors will donate $25 to WFP. His hopes are to end world hunger in a generation.
On Halle’s commitment to the cause, Kors said, ‘I am so pleased that Halle Berry has decided to continue her amazing work with us. Her enormous dedication to Watch Hunger Stop is one of the reasons we’ve reached so many people and helped deliver more than five million school meals. Halle’s talent and energy are inspiring, and I look forward to working together with her in the fight against hunger.'
Having just returned from an awareness-raising trip to Nicaragua this summer, where she visited schools and farms that have benefitted from the Watch Hunger Stop campaign, Halle said, ‘I am proud of what we’ve done together and eager to continue this effort to make a difference in the lives of people in need.'
The fashion brand will also launch a cool new range of t-shirts, so look out for the AW14 design on some of fashion’s most high-profile figures from 16 October onwards.
