Three men sent back to the United Arab Emirates from festival after it was believed women could find them 'irresistible'
Three men from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were evicted from a festival in Saudi Arabia after it was believed they were 'too handsome', the Arabic language newspaper Elaph reported.
They were delegates at the Jenadrivah Heritage & Culture Festival in Riyadh when religious police stormed the event and evicted them.
According to Elaph's report, a festival official said the three Emiratis were 'taken out on the grounds they are too handsome and that the Commission [for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices] members feared female visitors could fall for them.'
An official statement said religious police were worried about the unexpected presence of an unnamed female artist at the event.
Saeed Al Kaabi, head of the UAE delegation to the festival, said: 'Her visit to the UAE stand was a coincidence as it was not included in the programme which we had already provided to the festival’s management.'
The men were deported back to Abu Dhabi following the incident.
