Donna Karan enlists the help of Christina Ricci to star in a short film promoting its new Eldridge bag entitled Four Play
We do love a good designer-celebrity collaboration, so were pleased to see that Donna Karan has enlisted the help of Christina Ricci to promote its new Eldridge bag.
It seems that the simple snapshot ad campaign is no longer enough for the big name designers these days - as the latest trend is to produce a mini-movie starring a famous face to promote your brand.
With Karl Lagerfeld having stepped behind the lens to direct a short Chanel film, the head honchos at Donna Karan teamed up with PR firm People's Revolution and followed suit - with a video starring Christina Ricci.
The film, entitled Four Play, sees the actress playing four different versions of herself - the Dreamer, the Expressionist, the Paramour and the Voyeur - to represent the notion that the multi-way bag can be worn in four different ways.
The two-minute short was directed by Sting and Trudie Styler's son, Jake Sumner, and filmed at the luxe Soho Grand Hotel in New York.
But Donna Karan's sister brand, DKNY, has also got in on the movie-making act - producing a short film to promote one of their most prize pieces, the Cozy sweater.
