Gwyneth, Madonna, Anne and Agyness celebrate Valentino's foray into film

After years of dressing the world's most glamorous women, Valentino last night called on their help, to the celebrate the premiere of Valentino: The Last Emperor, a documentary that chronicles his final two years at the helm of his eponymous fashion house.

And so the evening was suitably star-studded, and seriously stylish.

Gwyneth Paltrow led the pack, with the designer himself on her arm, and played it safe with a red carpet staple – the strapless LBD, of course, by Valentino.

Pretty in pistachio, Claire Danes arrived alongside fiancée Hugh Dancy, and looked ever the inch the glowing bride-to-be, in a sweet cap sleeve gown, with corsage detailing.

Anne Hathaway was ethereal in a white Grecian draped gown, and added a dose of old-school Hollywood glamour, with loose flowing curls and glittering statement earrings.

As for the considerable fashion contingency, and Agyness Deyn ditched the Eighties mismatch look she's favoured of late, and went uncharacteristically demure in a black velvet maxi dress.

Helena Christensen was also a maxi girl, again in black, but with a slinkier on-trend asymmetric cut. In the style battle of the supers, we have to award the best dressed prize to Ms Christensen - better luck next time Aggy!

Meanwhile the night's biggest star shunned the red carpet and sneaked in the back. Madonna dodged the waiting cameras, and snuck in wearing a leather coat and knee-high boots.
