It's the most-talked about fashion biopic in years. But what does the REAL House of Versace think?
Donatella Versace might want to avoid the TV this weekend. The fashion designer will be the talk of the fashion industry as a biopic on the House Of Versace airs on US screens on 5 October.
The mini movie is based on Wall Street Journal reporter Deborah Ball's 2010 book, The House Of Versace: The Untold Story Of Genius, Murder And Survival, and tells the story of Gianni Versace's tragic murder in 1997 and how his sister was thrust into the spotlight and given the role of creative director at the brand.
Donatella is played by Gina Gershon, who tells The New York Post: 'It's movie magic – a little tape and glue. Her physicality is so different from mine; the way she stands and walks and speaks.'
The resemblance is almost uncanny. But what does the REAL House Of Versace think? A company spokesperson said: 'Since Versace did not authorize the book on which it is based, the movie should only be seen as a work of fiction.'
