The stars turned out for Stella's annual Christmas lights switch-on...
With the turning on of the Stella McCartney festive lights at her Bruton Street store, we can officially declare the Christmas season is upon us.
The annual celeb-packed party has become a highlight of the festive calendar and last night’s shindig didn’t disappoint.
Renowned for attracting an eclectic A-list crowd, this year’s guests lived up to tradition. Kylie Minogue, dressed in a chic sequin blazer, rubbed shoulders with an elegant Selma Hayek while a cardigan-coat wearing Nenah Cherry shared a hot chocolate with stars including Ronnie Wood, Victoria Pendleton and Poppy Delevingne.
But of course, no Stella Christmas party is complete without an impressive switch-flicker. Following in the footsteps of Dame Edna Everage and Ab Fab’s Patsy and Eddie, this years honours fell to legendary comedian Steeve Coogan. And in typical fashion, caused a hefty amount of controversy in doing so.
The comic, best known for playing socially-awkward radio host Alan Partridge, explained to the crowd of VIPs, guests and photographers assembled outside: "I actually was supposed to be at Great Ormond Street Hospital helping them raise the final bit of money for a kidney dialysis machine but I said 'No, I am going to go and turn the lights on, for Stella.' Well, I thought, 'They can get a kidney dialysis machine next year, there's plenty of time."
Wonder if he’ll be booked next year…?
