In what will surprise exactly zero people in the country, who have been booking their tickets weeks in advance, it was announced today that Spectre has shattered box office records with a historic performance in the UK.
In the first week alone, the film has taken in $80.4 million, with the film opening to an estimated £41.7 million in the UK.
Spectre snatched the opening record from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and also achieved a new record for the highest seven-day gross in UK box office history, overtaking the last James Bond film, Skyfall.
Last week's Spectre premiere at the Royal Albert Hall was quite the spectacle, drawing in the rich and famous from around the world, from royals to actresses to singers and back again.
Director Sam Mendes, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson were ready to greet the guests, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. The Duchess of Cambridge stole the show in a glamorous Jenny Packham gown, while her husband and brother-in-law looked dapper in sharp suits.
The Bond ladies, Monica Bellucci and Lea Seydoux, both wore showstopping gowns in complementary colours, Lea in sequinned gold and Monica in a luscious dark green Ralph & Russo dress. The man of the moment, Daniel Craig, wore a smart black tux with a poppy, while his wife Rachel Weisz dazzled in an Alexander McQueen dress.
