SJP just explained the reason behind this odd SATC shoe moment

One of my favourite episodes of SATC is the one (well the two) in season 3 where Carrie and her pals abandon their beloved New York for a long weekend in LA.

Not least thanks to the quite brilliant celebrity cameos - Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew McConaughey, Vince Vaughn, Carrie Fisher- and naturally, the fashion.

Carrie rises to the occasion as always, putting her own spin on California fashion. On the first night of her stay, she steps out of her hotel for a few minutes, outrageously having the cigarette she couldn't smoke indoors.

She wears a cute floral mini dress, and on her shoes, mismatched Christian Louboutin metallic heels, one pink and one blue.

Instagram account Every Outfit on SATC shared a snap of the outfit, speculating as to why that might be. Did they come as a set, or did Carrie buy two pairs and mix them up? Are they a metaphor for her inability to choose between Aidan and Big?

Well wonder no more, because Sarah Jessica Parker herself has cleared it all up.

Commenting on the picture, she wrote, 'Here is the official answer and I'm sure approved by the great and legendary @patriciafield we had 2 pairs of what I believe are @louboutinworld scrappy sandals. Pat and I chose to do 1 of each. Perhaps because both were so delicious in color and seemed in harmony with the dress but also because we simply loved doing 1 of each. Sending my best. And hope this is a satisfactory answer. Xxx'

So no drama there, just pure sartorial genius. Another fun fact for you, Christian Louboutin was one of the rare designers who didn't gift or loan for Sex And The City, saying, 'Nothing is great publicity when it doesn’t pay. That’s my job. I design shoes and people buy them.'

Which means the aforementioned sandals were probably paid for.
