Show report: Mulberry A/W'12
Colourful knits, killer coats and some extremely cute dresses combine in Emma Hill’s latest offering for Mulberry
Colourful knits, killer coats and some extremely cute dresses combine in Emma Hill’s latest offering for Mulberry
The Mulberry show has become one of London fashion week’s highlights thanks to its seriously dazzling front rows (today the Brit brand bagged Michele Williams, Elizabeth Olsen, Michelle Dockery among many others) and upbeat fun presentations (balloon installations, pugs on the catwalk and delicious treats post-show).
But behind the buzz there is also some serious brand building and Emma Hill’s reign at the label has already taken it to stratospheric heights (its sales broke the £70m last year and show no signs of slowing down in the next twelve months). For autumn/winter creative director Emma Hill showed plenty more of the youthful, cute and seriously covetable pieces alongside the hit bags that will no doubt be amongst next season’s must-haves too.
But her ready-to-wear is fast becoming just as desirable - shaggy furs and sporty jackets were worn over gorgeous colourful knits and wide scarves belted across the body like a make-shift waistcoat, printed long sleeve tees were paired with glossy leather pencil skirts and sweet bustier dresses came with sheer sleeves.
Pattern even broke out onto the bags too – among the best was a zig zag patterned bowling bag. The most snapped bag thought was the white ostrich Del Rey bag – sitting on the lap of front row guest Lana Del Rey.
