Yes, Australian supermodel Shanina Shaik got engaged to her boyfriend DJ Ruckus over the holidays, and the proposal, readers, was something else.

First Mr Ruckus (real name Greg Andrews) called his cousin, the singer Lenny Kravitz, to ask to borrow his private island in the Bahamas as a backdrop, People reports.

Next, he invited family friends including Denzel Washington to the exotic location, for everyone to witness the special moment.

Then Mr Ruckus enlisted jeweller-to-the-stars Lorraine Schwartz to make a ring (she’s previously designed sparklers for Kim Kardashian, Blake Lively).

But he didn’t just ask Schwartz to make one ring. He asked her to make two, so that Shanina could choose her favourite on the day. Pick both, we cry!

Shanina chose the smaller of the two options, a gold hexagon-cut diamond, with a diamond ‘G’ and an amethyst (her birthstone) ‘S’ engraved inside the ring.

To top it all off, the bride and groom-to-be then jetted to Dubai for New Year’s Eve, before arriving in the Maldives for January. Life isn’t always fair, is it?
