Kerry Washington’s character, Olivia Pope, from TV show Scandal has a wardrobe to die for. When she’s not storming down the corridors of The White House in Dior, she’s knee-deep in crisis management wearing Armani.
While we were glued to the TV during the last series, Kerry and Scandal costume designer Lyn Paolo teamed up with American clothier The Limited to create an affordable adaptation of the ‘Gladiators in Suits’ wardrobe Pope dons.
‘By creating a line inspired by the show, we are introducing a collection that embodies the elegance and power of the Scandal aesthetic for real-life gladiators and everyday fashionistas,’ explained Washington. ‘The collection is a nod to our devoted fans, to fans of fashion and to women everywhere who are inspired to boldly pursue their passions and look good while doing it.’
The Limited Scandal Collection will be available in The Limited stores throughout the US and online. And, yes, they ship internationally. The collection, which Kerry got very involved in designing, evokes the striking and aspirational style that Olivia Pope is known for.
‘Bringing a quintessential neutral palette together with soft feminine colour, the collection is outfit driven while remaining easy to mix and match - creating effortlessly modern and powerful looks,’ said Elliot Staples, head of design at The Limited. ‘Olivia Pope's signature wardrobe is well represented by tailored wide leg trousers, separate jackets with strong lines and signature trims, chic feminine blouses, and heroic outerwear pieces.’
Pieces from the line will also serve as Pope’s costumes for series four of the American drama, which starts state-side this autumn. The collection drops in US stores in September.
