Rihanna Dazzles At The CFDA Awards In THAT See-Through Dress

Rihanna completely stole the show at the 2014 CFDA Awards in a see-through dress.
Rihanna picked up the Fashion Icon Award at the 2014 CFDA Awards in New York City last night. But her real wow-factor moment was when she turned up on the red carpet in a completely see-through dress.
Her 'So Naked' fishnet gown, as it's been dubbed, was custom-made by Adam Selman and hand embellished with over 230,000 Swarovski crystals.
'The dress is just fishnet and crystals and a couple of fingers crossed. But fashion is about beauty, and the [female] body is part of that.' Selman told Style.com
Rihanna’s stylist Mel Ottenberg recently revealed that the pair had worked through all of the AW14 collections and were running out of outfit choices, which might explain why they went custom for the CFDA awards.
Rihanna and Selman, an American designer who has created numerous costumes for the pop princess and co-designed her River Island collab, had actually been working on this look since the MTV Movie awards in April. The crystal do-rag was her idea. 'It brings such a Rihanna feel to the whole thing,’ he noted. The look was topped off with a pink Pologeorgis fur stole, Manolo Blahnik heels, a ring and earrings by Paul Morelli, and a pinky ring by Jacob.
‘Growing up I didn't have a lot of access to fashion. But, um, as far as I could remember, fashion has always been my defense mechanism. Even as a child I remember thinking, "She can beat me, but she cannot beat my outfit." And to this day I mean, that is how I think about it,’ she said during her acceptance speech.

This outfit will certainly not be beaten. Her translucent dress, à la Kate Moss in 1993, is just another example of the fashion hysteria this icon causes.
'The point is to be audacious, even jaw dropping or button pushing - and, yes, we know she enjoys pushing buttons - while remaining true to yourself,' Anna Wintour said as she presented the award.
Even Tom Ford, who received the CFDA’s Lifetime Achievement award, has jumped on the RiRi bandwagon.
‘Something new is happening that I'm just clueing into now - this probably won't go down well - but customers don't care any more about reviews or hard-copy publications. They care what picture Rihanna just Instagrammed while she's naked in bed, what new shoes she has on, how she's talking about them. That's what they respond to,’ he said in a recent interview.
But the star has recently been banned from using the photo-sharing platform for showing too much skin. Is this dress her response to her recent disappearance from Instagram?
‘I enjoy the most that you can tell so much about who someone is just by their style - the way they put fashion together. And I think fashion has been an outlet for me to express myself, to speak up, to say who I am and to be very loud about it at times, and I just like to have fun with it,’ said the Barbadian beauty.
Take a look back at Rihanna's style evolution.
