So this is what a fashion editor’s wedding looks like…
Is this the most stylish wedding of the summer?
Is this the most stylish wedding of the summer?
Fashion editor and street style star Giovanna Battaglia married Swedish real estate tycoon Oscar Engelbert over the weekend, in what many are already hailing to be the wedding of the summer.
Taking over Instagram with their official wedding hashtag, #gioandoscar, and in turn taking over the Italian island of Capri, the couple’s big day was a who’s who of the fashion industry’s finest, and of course warranted some seriously gorgeous gowns.
The bride herself wore three – the biggest and best of which being a frothy Alexander McQueen confection, made bespoke for her by Sarah Burton. As the couple said their vows on the rocks, the dress was a scene-maker as pink confetti cannons exploded all around when the couple shared their first kiss as husband and wife.
To cut the cake and start the dancing, Giovanna switched into a floral Giambattista Valli mini, complete with matching boots and crown, and for the rehearsal dinner the night before, she donned an Azzedine Alaia frock.
Net-A-Porter founder Natalie Massenet and fashion editor Anna Dello Russo were among Giovanna’s five flower girls (wearing Valentino) and other guests included designer Giambattista Valli, model Natasha Poly and Roberto Cavalli designer Peter Dundas.
The festivities continued long after the confetti cannons had gone off with a stunning dinner, an enormous dancefloor and two photobooth set-ups. There was a pop-up news stand, an art deco-style gold room of Gatsby standards and an enormous firework display to finish.

We think it’s a little early to declare the wedding of the summer, but Giovanna and Oscar have certainly raised the bar with this one.
