Even the bad weather didn't dampen Cheryl Cole's big red carpet moment

Cheryl Cole added even more glamour to the Cannes Film Festival this weekend as she took to the red carpet for the premiere of Michael Haneke's new movie, Amour.

The Geordie singer completely stole the show as she stepped out at the prestigious film event wearing a striking Stephane Rolland haute couture fishtail gown.

Despite the nasty thunderstorm that was pounding the French town, Cheryl Cole looked dazzling as she posed for photographers at the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival at Palais des Festivals.

The stunning dress was teamed with thousands of pounds worth of diamond jewellery, a matching red clutch and Ms Cole's cascading chocolate tresses.

The 28-year-old was at Cannes on behalf of L'Oreal, which she is the beauty ambassador for. Ahead of her big moment, Ms Cole tweeted: 'About to walk the red carpet for @LOrealParisUK. It's raining lol. #Cannes2012.'

It's thought that Cheryl's trip to Cannes is only a brief one as she's expected on the red carpet in London this Tuesday (May 22) for the premiere of What To Expect When You're Expecting.
