Prepare to be amazed...

Consider this vital prep for modern brides, and eye candy for gown lovers everywhere. From bridal trouser suits to off-the-shoulder details and jumpsuits to ravishing ruffles, Bridal Fashion Week’s Spring 2017 collections had it all this season.

So if you’re planning a spring or summer wedding and looking for anything but a trad meringue, see the stand-out wedding dresses and trends that are anything but average.

Elie Saab

One for boho brides, this dreamy lace dress from wedding extraordinaire Elie Saab is unstructured, floor-skimming and perfect for teaming with two new season bridal essentials – tiaras and embellished flats. Heaven.

Elie Saab

To dress or not to dress - that is the key question for Spring 2017. Here at Marie Claire HQ, we vote in favour of going for a jumpsuit, especially when they’re as divine as this intricately embellished Elie Saab number.

Lela Rose

If you had any concerns about swapping the trad dress in favour of something altogether more stand-out and modern then this beautiful bow-detail two-piece is a great bit of reassurance. We love.

All eyes are on you at the altar - so why not try tapping into the A-list approved trend of sexy low back dresses for your big day.

Carolina Herrera

If there’s one thing we love more than swooning over bridal gowns, it’s admiring the enduring appeal of a great shirt dress. So, as you can imagine, it was love at first sight when we spied this wonderful Carolina Herrera creation.

Carolina Herrera

Proof, were it needed, that wedding trousers are now ‘a thing’ also came from legendary designer Carolina Herrera. Renowned for her bold, beautiful and breathtaking creations, this stand-out look is one of our highlights of the season.

J Mendel

Just. So. Stunning. Going completely against the grain for bridal trends which show more skin, this covered-up version is ‘the one’ for the bride who wants to prove less is definitely more.

Want to emulate the dramatic gowns you see in the pages of fashion editorials and splashed across billboard campaigns? Naeem Khan is the designer to go to for full-on drama. We couldn’t be more enamoured with this flared, off-the-shoulder and cut-out detail dress. Subtle yet striking, it’s everything a bridal gown should be.

Houghton

One of the biggest (and most surprising) bridal trends for next spring? Black lace. Both Houghton and Naeem Khan closed their shows with a black bridal look, showing there’s a serious shift away from traditional bridal trends. Fashion-forward brides have never had it so good.

Houghton

Speaking of Houghton, if you're looking for a wedding dress add this little-known label to your moodboard. Their stylish creations will have everyone talking about The Dress long after the ceremony.

Sachin & Babi

Off-the-shoulder details and ruffles are key trends both in ready-to-wear and bridal collections right now and for next spring. If you want something unstructured, romantic and directional, this is the way to go.

Here at Marie Claire HQ we love the simplicity of a slip or elegant T-shirt dress. This gorgeous look offers the latter, with just a splash of drama with an elegant lace train.

Naeem Khan

If you’re looking for the drama of a traditional bridal gown but want the modernity of new season trends and cuts then this is ‘the one’ for you. Pink and off-the-shoulder, it taps into key trends while offering all the show-stopping qualities you'd expect from a bridal gown.

Naeem Khan

Feel like a modern day princess and say I do in serious style in this other stunning Naeem Khan dress. Shorter hemlines were a key take-away trend from Bridal Fashion Week and perfect if you want to show off your shoes.
