Olivia Palermo’s Wedding: It’s All About That 'Dress'

Street-style aficionado Olivia Palermo married her long-term love Johannes Huebl this weekend, giving fashion fans plenty to talk about with her seriously cool twist on the traditional wedding dress.
Olivia shunned the meringue, instead choosing a three-piece outfit by Carolina Herrera made up of a cashmere jumper and tailored shorts with an organza skirt overlay.
After months of speculation over what the bride would wear (and which of her many designer BFFs was most likely to dress her) it seems fitting that the New York socialite should put her own modern spin on one of the city’s classic occasionwear labels.
Paying homage to another modern-day fashion icon, the style blogger teamed her ensemble with the same blue Manolo Blahnik shoes as Carrie Bradshaw wore for her civil ceremony in the Sex And The City movie. But these weren’t fresh out the box a la Bradshaw, rather a favourite old pair that she declared to be her, “something blue”.
When it came to beauty, the bride kept it simple too, allowing her outfit to do the talking as usual. “I wanted the makeup to be light and fresh and more focused about the lashes while keeping the eyes clean,” she said. “My hair was in an uncontrived pony tail, one of my favorite personal looks.”
She and Johannes kept their ceremony very low key too, inviting only a handful of guests to a park in Bedford in the Hamptons. “We really wanted to keep this beautiful day very private and special to us and enjoyed the whole day with our family and two friends,” she said in a statement on OliviaPalermo.com. “Bedford is such an amazing and romantic countryside.”

But if you’re disappointed by the small, out-of-character scale of the occasion, take note. This is only ‘part one’ of the couple’s celebrations. Plans for part two are yet to be unveiled, but we expect a much bigger affair – and potentially a dress of Lady Di-proportions.
