Fashion designer Nicolas Ghesquiere will step down from his role as creative director of Balenciaga at the end of the month, it was announced today.
According to WWD, the Frenchman and the fashion house are citing the move as a 'joint decision to end their working relationship', which will come into effect on 30th November.

The shock news comes just a month after Ghesquiere showed one of his most acclaimed collections for the label during Paris Fashion Week spring/summer 2013, and just a few weeks after he embarked on a promotional whirlwind alongside muse Kristen Stewart, who is the face of the brand's Florabotanica fragrance.
The designer has been creative director of Balenciaga since 1997 and is credited with turning around the label's fortunes from jaded fashion house to commercially and critically successful fashion mega-brand. No announcements have yet been made as to where Ghesquiere is going next, or who will replace him at the helm of Balenciaga.
