Award-winning shoe desinger Nicholas Kirkwood has teamed up with Chambord the black raspberry liqueur to create a pair of limited edtion shoes. Ahead of the launch party tonight we caught up with the London-based designer to check them out for ourselves...
Tell us about the design process for this shoe? We had worked with Chambord previously on our store opening so it was interesting to do something that was product focused. I looked to the luxurious look and feel of the drink as well as the way it is packaged. The use of the rich fabrications such as the velvet and gold chrome were key to conveying this in the design.
The fabric feels and looks so sumptuous. I came across it at a fair not long after Chambord approached to me with the project, I thought it was the perfect look and colour to reflect the liqueur. We then had the Chambord pattern from the packaging printed on to the velvet.
What about that amazing sculptural heel? It is a chrome hammered heel that we have used within our mainline collection also, there were definitely a few trials before we got to the result we wanted. It also features my signature heel shape – something I have been working on for a few seasons now.
Who do you predict wearing them? I feel like this silhouette is for everyone, it’s classic but has an architectural element with the shaped heel.
There's not long to go until the autumn/winter 2013 shows. Who are you working with? Peter Pilotto, Erdem and Suno.

Any hints of what's on your moodboard? Rich, autumnal tones, new silhouettes and...
Ooh so mysterious! So what have you got planned for Christmas? I usually go back to my parents' for Christmas day, my mum cooks a big turkey and I mix up a big bloody mary. Everyone's happy and merry!
What are you hoping to find under the Christmas tree? I would love a pair of Ron Arad x PQ sunglasses, but not sure anybody loves me enough to spend £550 on a pair.
Aww, so what should every Christmas stocking contain? Chambord!
