NYFW day 3 beauty trends round-up
It's dee three of NYFW (I always feel the need to put on a Geordie Big Brother-esque voiceover whenever I say that) and already there seem to be a couple of trends bubbling away nicely, thank you very much.
It's dee three of NYFW (I always feel the need to put on a Geordie Big Brother-esque voiceover whenever I say that) and already there seem to be a couple of trends bubbling away nicely, thank you very much.
First up was Carolina Herrera. As you would expect in a room (or rather tent) that's jam-packed with the runway's most coveted walkers (Jourdan, Cara, Karlie, I could go on...) it was all rather aesthetically pleasing backstage to start with. However, make-up maestro Diane Kendal managed to take pretty up a notch by pressing MAC's 'Hot Tahiti' lipstick onto the lips and finishing with a swoosh of 'Bare Faced' blush to make the girls look even more beautiful than their genetics have already dictated.
Next up was Donna Karan where life was imitating art as Charlotte Tilbury set about creating a Donna-inspired smoky eye but with a modern twist. The hair, however, was a little less 'Donna' with a futuristic gravity-defying do inspired by a Brancusi sculpture not dissimilar to yesterday's construction at Ralph Rucci (see what I did there?).
3.1 Phillip Lim was also feeding into a trend-in-the-making with a deep mahogany lip that gave the slightly undone 'real girl' look a bit of an edge (think sophisticated girl who lives uptown but plays in a band and has a downtown boyfriend). The beauty litmus will of course be reserved for Marc by Marc later on tonight as let's face it, as with the timings of his shows, the fashion renegade is likely to throw everything off kilter!
