Dolce and Gabbana showed their fantasy Italian couture collection in Capri
Just in case you were starting to think couture was all about Paris, Dolce and Gabbana whisked the fashion editors to Capri for the ultimate summer holiday to present their AW14 Alta Moda collection. Here are our 5 favourite moments from the Italian fashion fantasy…
The Front Row Benches Were Swapped For Deckchairs The venue of choice was a secret cove on the rocks – 200 people and no paparazzi – heaven. Guests were even treated to mozzarella and tomato pasta (yes pasta) post-show.
Everyone Arrived By Boat And the award for best runway entrance ever goes to… Yes, the models came in their dozens, bobbing carefully over from Naples on chic little boats before being dropped barefoot at the end of the runway.
The Ballgowns Were Beautiful 78 looks were presented - all one-offs, and all sold on a first come-first served basis. Several front row princesses were spotted trying to text their shopping lists before the show was even over. This was the biggest, most fantastical display of Italian glamour, possibly that we have ever seen from the design power-duo. Click through the gallery above for all of the gorgeous images.
There Was A Firework Finale As the party got going, it seemed that one more look was still to be shown. A model in the ultimate haute wedding gown emerged, floating casually by on a sailboat under the silvery moon. Dreamy.
And Then Stefano Went Swimming... When all was said and done, Stefano Gabbana swapped his trademark specs for some chic goggles and took a dip in the Capri sea with his beau. Well you would, wouldn’t you?
