Giedre tells us her go-to beauty products and gives advice for models wanting to break into the industry
We travelled to Miami to shoot our June fashion story, 'Jump to it', starring Giedre Dukauskaite – I was thrilled to press the confirm button on this model beauty. Modern, cool and with effortless edge, she was the perfect girl for a luxe sportswear story with personality.
Born in Lithuania and now based in NYC, Giedre has appeared in campaigns for Prada, Uniqlo, Topshop and Dolce & Gabbana and walked runways for Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Céline and Miu Miu, among others. It's safe to say Giedre has forged a great career for herself. I asked her some questions we were dying to know the answers to...
What is your go-to everyday outfit? My go to outfit is a T-shirt, vintage denim and a warm, soft, oversized sweater.
Are there any particular fashion designers are you into right now? My favourite designers of the moment are Alexander Wang, Acne and Wendy Nichols.
Which beauty products can you not live without? It would have to be Weleda Skin Food and Bioderma. And I always carry Lucas' Papaw Ointment in my purse.
How did you get your modelling break? And can you give any advice to girls wanting to get into the business? I got into modelling almost by chance, I didn't have to try. I was discovered and pulled into the business. The advice I have for girls who want to model is be very sure, and be prepared to work really, really hard. It's a hard job and industry. You will have to give 100 per cent.

Can you tell us some of your career highlights? My highlights have to be working with industries giants such as Steven Meisel, Miuccia Prada, Paolo Roversi and Mario Testino.
What is the best advice ever given to you? The best advice was not to worry about making mistakes. If you don't make mistakes, you haven't tried. Step out of your comfort zone.
When you do have some downtime, how do you like to relax? I relax with a book. Reading, either at home or a beautiful beach or even the airport, calms me down and brings me peace.
Where is home? My home at the moment is New York City. I don't get attached to places much, but I've created a little personal space for myself in my NY apartment.
And finally, did you enjoy your shoot with Marie Claire in Miami?! Miami was super-fun. The weather was great, we enjoyed sunshine all day. Plus I was with a fun team: [photographer] James Macari, [stylist] Tiffany Fraser Steele and [hairstylist] Riad Azar. They are lovely people and we had a lot of laughs!
