Mars Attacks at Nanette Lepore
When it comes to hair styling I admit to feeling a bit of a fraud. Oh, I know exactly how to do it, I can even write about how to do it but when it comes to, well, actually doing it myself, I'm afraid dear reader I fail rather miserably.

When it comes to hair styling I admit to feeling a bit of a fraud. Oh, I know exactly how to do it, I can even write about how to do it but when it comes to, well, actually doing it myself, I'm afraid dear reader I fail rather miserably.
It does perhaps explain my fascination for the most intricate dos and the people behind them. Cue another little hairspiration from backstage at NYFW, this time courtesy of Bumble and Bumble super-stylist James Pecis for Nanette Lepore.
The inspiration was 'a girl from Mars', with two different looks, one of which was a slightly androgynous ponytail whilst the other was a sci-fi looking cluster of 'Zulu knots'.
Pecis insisted both were within the capabilities of lesser mortals but I wasn't so sure. The trick, apparently, is to saturate the hair with Bumble and Bumble's Thickening Spray. Next, etch a parting that runs from behind the bottom of the left ear to the top of the right. Then simply (I say simply), section the hair and twist into coils (or Zulu knots) and pin. And voila, a look that's out of this world!
