On a Sunday packed with back-to-back shows, Todd Lynn and Louise Goldin stood out today thanks to two fashion-forward, edgy collections which will have London's cool kids kicking up their spike-heeled ankle boots in delight.
With Janet Jackson in the front row, seated next to Roland Mouret, Todd Lynn was first up with a hunting-inspired collection - named 'La Chassse' - filled with sharp-shouldered jackets, many with leather strap detailing, body-con, cigarette trousers and fur gillets, all worn with Louboutin 'Guerriere' boots.
The fashion pack then nipped round the corner from Somerset House to the Topshop venue in Covent Garden (avoiding the Bafta cordon on the way) for Goldin's fabulous show which, from the models' moody black eye make-up to the sculptural, dark green pieces they were wearing, was packed with attitude.
Stiff fabrics, moulded tightly to the body, created sharp shapes - again with exaggerated shoulders, but also jutting hips and tiny waists. Although crafted in the main from a dark palette of forest green, there were flashes of bright reds and yellows from beaded, sparkling hot pants and leggings under tunics or peplum skirts.
Those big-wigs at the British Fashion Council who awarded Louise this season's Fashion Forward honour couldn't have picked a more worthy recipient if they'd tried.
