Lady MacMillan, widow of the renowned choreographer, chose Aggugini to create the new costumes as she was impressed by his vision and respect for the original work.
However, this isn’t the first time that Aggugini has swapped designing for the runway for ballet dancers instead.
Last January the Marie Claire team chose him to design the costumes for our magical, modern recreation of three iconic ballet scenes to celebrate 60 years of the English National Ballet.

Commenting on his latest collaboration Aggugini explained that:'the guidelines for ballet costumes are quite strict, so on top of an appearance one has to consider functionality and durability.'

‘I guess it’s a bit like designing a Batman outfit, but in this case there was also a clear vision from one of the most revered British choreographers who created possibly the most successful version of the Ballets Russes piece.
'This is what makes this project so special – it’s not just a costume, it’s the resurgence of an iconic work of art,' Aggugini said.
The ballet will be shown from the 22nd to the 27th March 2012 at the London Coliseum.
We are already pirouetting with excitement to see the designs in the flesh!
