Karl Lagerfeld has given his take on Keira Knightley's low-key nuptials and her cute Chanel wedding dress
Karl Lagerfeld has given his take on Keira Knightley's gorgeous low-key French wedding, describing it as 'perfect'.
In an interview with The Telegraph published today, the designer talks openly about Keira's big day, and her decision to wear a Chanel prom dress with matching pumps by the brand for the intimate ceremony.
Talking about her dress, he told the paper: 'But it is very simple.'
He adds: 'She had the least pretentious wedding ever. The whole thing was relaxed. I think it's perfect. After all, they lived together for quite a time. It's not as if she is a young girl of 18 who sees the husband for the first time. She is not a country girl.
'Yes. I liked the light-heartedness of this wedding.'
The designer, who's spent the last 30 years as the head of Chanel, admits to being a big fan of the actress and brand ambassador, especially when it comes to her portrayal of Coco Chanel in the new biopic, Once Upon A Time.
He says: 'Keira was genius, no? I work well with her. Very easy. Keira has zero problem in her way of behaving and she knows everybody.'
Karl saved all his praise for Keira, and spent some time criticising Audrey Tautou's portrayal of Coco in the 2009 adaptation, Coco Before Chanel. Ouch. Karl is thought to be one of the few high-profile secret guests at Keira's wedding last month, alongside Sienna Miller.
