Kate Winslet has revealed the stress and panic involved in finding the perfect Oscar dress.

The star, who went home with the gong for Best Actress last night, was stunning on the red carpet in an ultra-glam Yves Saint Laurent silk tulle asymmetric gown, but she got through three stylists to get the look.

In the run-up to the ceremony, the 33-year-old let two of her fashion advisors go, and so in the end relied on the help of just one trusted stylist.

Kate said the most important factor for her was comfort.

'It has been difficult to find the right balance of having a dress that's fun to wear and that I also feel good wearing. Being on the red carpet is a privilege and you have a great time but I want to get it right,' she said.

The star of The Reader did, however, decide to keep her existing hair and make-up team, because she has always been happy with her tresses.
