Choupette Lagerfeld gets a make-up line and a book deal. We’ll just get back to our desk jobs then…
Karl Lagerfeld’s famous cat Choupette has announced details of a limited edition make-up line with Shu Uemura, cleverly called Shu-pette, set to launch around Christmas time.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, this is the first time a household pet has ever teamed up with a global beauty brand, and the range will reportedly include such essentials as furry false lashes and ‘claw’ paint polishes.
As if this wasn’t enough for the Chanel kaiser’s kat, she has also landed her debut book deal. Marie Claire has previewed Choupette: The Private Life of a High-Flying Fashion Cat and we can confirm it is as brilliantly bonkers (yet totally chic) as you may expect.
Devoted designer and photographer Karl has shot a series of intimate portraits of his beloved for the tome, paying particular attention to her sparkling blue eyes.
Choupette also details everything you could ever wish to know about her luxury lifestyle alongside ‘daddy’ Karl - think chauffeurs, private jets and chefs - and compiles an edit of the recent Chanel looks that she thinks would look best on her.
The book will include sections on diet, beauty and fashion and there are diaries from her favourite maid Madame Françoise, and her personal vet, Madame Horn.

Speaking exclusively to Marie Claire UK, Karl gave us an insight into Choupette’s lavish lifestyle and some of her, erm, pet hates.
“Miss Choupette loves Latin but hates opera,” he said. “But I only listen to music if she is awake. Her grooming routine is a lot of work. She has two maids because she doesn’t like to be alone. They do all the brushing – she’s beyond spoilt and sleeps on the back of my bed.”
With a following of over 50,000 people on her personal Twitter and Instagram accounts (see the gallery above for some of her greatest ‘selfies’) we have a feeling that the trendsetting feline’s fans will be seriously pleased with the news.
Choupette: The Private Life of a High-Flying Fashion Cat is released on September 15 by Thames & Hudson, £12.95
