Hedi Slimane has shot the music and style icon for Saint Laurent's spring 2015 campaign
The competition for best new season ad campaign just got hotter, as Saint Laurent unveiled Joni Mitchell as their face of SS15.
Shot by designer Hedi Slimane at her home in Bel Air, California, the music and style icon, now 71, wears vintage YSL (her own folk tunic and a classic YSL fedora) plus a custom leather cape made for her by Hedi.
Renowned for his stunning photography as well as his game-changing work as Saint Laurent’s designer, Hedi snapped Joni on several occasions, with a series of studio portraits to be released later in the month.
Joni joins the growing list of names the designer has collaborated with for the for the Saint Laurent Music Project, including Daft Punk, Marilyn Manson, Jake Bugg and BB King.
The news comes just days after Celine revealed their spring campaign images of bestselling author Joan Didion, kicking off what feels like a significant industry movement and a turn away from using generic young models in fashion imagery. We certainly think these pictures are far more exciting.
