The designer has been sacked by the fashion house after allegedly making anti-semitic comments
John Galliano has been fired from Dior, following his arrest for allegedly making anti-semitic comments last week.
The move comes after a video of a different incident hit the internet, showing Galliano drunkenly praising Hitler, and the fashion house has reacted by ending its contract with the designer.
Dior confirmed via a statement: 'Today, because of the particularly odious nature of the behavior and words of John Galliano in a video made public this Monday, the Christian Dior house has decided to lay him off immediately and has begun firing procedures against him.'
Dior's chief executive Sidney Toledano stated: 'I condemn most firmly the statements made by John Galliano which are a total contradiction with the essential values that have always been defended by the House of Christian Dior.'
And it's not only the fashion house that has been quick to distance itself from Galliano's alleged views. Natalie Portman - the face of Miss Dior Cherie - publicly condemned his actions yesterday, saying she was 'deeply shocked and disgusted' via a statement.
'In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr Galliano in any way' the actress wrote. 'I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.'
