THIS IS A MARIE CLAIRE ADVERTORIAL
As part of our Lenor Fresh Talent series, we've been getting the lowdown on upcoming fashion designers. This month we meet Sally Hartfield from Matilda & Quinn...
Design wasn't always on the agenda for Sally Hartfield, the brains behind vintage-inspired fashion label Matilda & Quinn.
After studying English and philosophy, she trained to become a lawyer. 'Working in a city environment made me realise there's a serious lack of smart clothing with an individual edge,' says Sally.
That's when she decided to leave her job to follow her childhood passion - fashion.

Now her ultra feminine label, which is manufactured here in England, has a loyal customer base, with clients who return for every collection.
'The range has come a long way and now also includes evening styles and some beautiful occasion wear,' Sally adds.
As part of the Lenor Fresh Talent showcase, Sally produced a design inspired by one of the fragrances from Lenor's range of fabric softeners - Pink Topaz & Magnolia.

Illustration For me, Lenor Pink Topaz & Magnolia is all about a feminine elegance. I would use light, fresh, soft colours to portray this.
Matilda & Quinn dress This dress is from my ss13 range. I like to include a variety of shapes, so I design both fitted and A-line pieces.
Family treasures These are pictures of my grandmothers and great aunts. Their natural sense of style and elegance really inspires me. The bag is one of my grandmother's. I still wear many of her clothes and accessories today.
My collection These styles are from my SS13 range. I love working with a rich palette of colours and tend to avoid using too much black.
Prints and jewellery I collect original fashion prints and have many of these at home. I am particularly fond of the jewellery from the Matilda & Quinn collection, as they are vintage in style but with a contemporary feel.
