With its naughty S&M subject matter, we guess it was only a matter of time before Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James decided to launch her own line of fetish-inspired fashion.
According to reports, the British writer of the best-selling book trilogy has signed not one, not two, but three licensing deals to bring Fifty Shades clothing to a high street near you.
It's understood that the author has negotiated a contract with Freeze Clothing to create a line of T-shirts, knitwear and hoodies, a deal with Briefly Stated to sell loungewear and underwear, and will team up with Brand HYP to design tights, stockings and garters.
Despite having no background in fashion, E.L. James hopes to transfer the success of her books (a whopping 40million copies have been sold worldwide so far) into clothes sales.
The first book in the trilogy, which tells the story of virgin Anastasia Steele and her romance with S&M loving Christian Grey, has become the fastest-selling paperback book of all time in the UK, and is currently being scripted into a big budget Hollywood film, with much speculation about who will play the two lead roles.
