Ellen Von Unwerth is one of the world’s greatest fashion photographers, famed for her cheeky/sexy/funny portraits of everyone from Rihanna to Naomi Campbell. 

Ellen, who was a fashion model herself for 10 years before switching to the other side of the camera, sure knows how to capture a character and has worked every major fashion magazine on the planet - including Marie Claire, shooting our September cover star Natalie Portman, don’t cha know?

Add some huge advertising campaigns and a few iconic album covers into the mix and we’re calling Ellen an industry icon in her own right. To celebrate our latest cover photographer, we’re revisiting some of our favourite ever Ellen Von Unwerth pictures…

Rihanna, 2011 Rihanna’s sixth studio album Talk That Talk was attitude-packed, so Ellen was a natural choice to shoot the all-important cover artwork. We think this picture is pretty, gritty and seriously cool, everything a Rihanna album should be, right?

Georgia May Jagger, 2014 When jewellery mega-brand Thomas Sabo wanted to shoot Georgia May for their AW14 campaign, they called Ellen. The photographer played on GMJ’s glamour puss reputation – literally, by giving her an adorable fluffy white kitten to pose with.

Gisele Bundchen, 2005 This image defines our #SummerGoals. The ultimate, Gisele, is modeling Victoria’s Secret lingerie and heels, whilst BBQ-ing a steak and necking a large bottle of vino. Genius.

Cara Delevingne, 2015 Cara’s campaign for Bobo clothing was shot in New York’s China Town, making stunning use of all the colours and props the location had to offer.

Naomi Campbell, 2014 Ellen was the obvious choice to shoot Naomi Campbell’s Agent Provocateur campaign in 2014 – the lingerie brand is renowned for their smoking hot ad images.

Beyoncé, 2011 When Beyoncé dropped her new album, 4, in 2011, she flew Ellen to her Paris apartment to create some images worthy of her Queen Bey status. The results came in the form of a stunning dark glam promo shoot –this snap being our absolute favourite.
