Diane Von Furstenberg has announced the recipients of the 2nd annual DVF Awards, honouring four women who have demonstrated leadership, strength and courage in their respective fields.
It's set to be an inspirational week for women around the world, as Diane Von Furstenberg has recognised four women whose leadership skills have had a positive impact on the lives of other women around the world. The prizes will be presented at an annual ceremony, held on 11th March.
The winners include Elizabeth Smart, for enforcing change in US legislation relating to child abduction, and Taryn Davis on behalf of The American Widow Project, an organization dedicated to helping women who have lost loved ones in the line of duty.
The other two honourees are from the Vital Voices Network, Sohini Chakraborty and Kakenya Ntaiya.
Sohini founded Koljata Sanved, an organization which uses dance movement as an alternative approach to rehabilitation for victims of violence and trafficking. Kakenya has founded a primary school for girls in her native village of Enoosaen, Kenya.
The DVF Awards ceremony will take place at the United Nations on March 11th, where each honouree will receive $50,000 aimed to help sustain and expand on their humanitarian efforts.
It is with great pride that we bestow all four of these women with an award of recognition and support,' says Diane.
