Peacocks announces record profits thanks to its £14 LBD
High street fashion chain Peacocks has announced record profits, thanks to its £14 LBDs and £8 pencil skirts - proof that we are finally getting our head around credit crunch chic.
The recession-friendly store revealed that its online sales had increased by 108% over the last year.
The skyrocketing profits have been taken as a clear sign that as the recession hits people are still enjoying a spot of shopping, but instead of frivolously throwing money away, are on the hunt for that perfect bargain.
By far the best sellers are the classic shift LBD, priced at £14, and Peacock's super-flattering black pencil skirt.
Among the other top buys, are the nautical stripe boyfriend cardigan, £12, the sheer ruffle top, £12 and the black chiffon gypsy dresses, £18.
'Our customers are showing an increased confidence in shopping online,' Tim Bettley, the managing director said.
